A dryer for biofuel

Uddevalla Energy is now examining the possibility to build a dryer where the waste heat is used to dry the wet wood chips which can then be refined into pellets and/or briquettes.

Our aim is to buy the timber that saw mills and pulp mills do not accept. Often this will be timber that is rotten or crooked.  Having made it into chips it is dried using the waste heat and then be made into fuel such as briquette and/or pellets.  The wooden product can then be used as fuel at our plants, for example in Ljungskile and Munkedal.

The amount of dried and processed fuel will be in excess of our needs.  We therefore plan to sell fuel to partners or thermal plants and industries.  There is no producer of processed fuel in the Uddevalla area and our location as perfect since it is close to the harbor, Norway and regional customers.  Our goal is to examine the conditions more closely this autumn and by next summer have a dryer in operation.
